Colorado bear hunting with Reverse 7L Outfitters, LLC. Hunt black bear in Colorado with an over-the-counter tag during rifle season or as an add-on with your elk or deer tag. Currently, we are only offering black bear hunts to deer and elk hunters. We are not booking black bear only hunts in Colorado at this time.

Units you would be bear hunting in Colorado are GMU 22, 32, 33, 42, and 105. Add-on tags give you the opportunity to shoot a black bear on your 5 day elk or deer hunt.

Colorado Muzzleloader Bear Season Dates: September 14 – 22, 2024.

Tags Available: Either Sex. (Must have Muzzleloader Tag / License)

Colorado Rifle Bear Season Dates:

1st Season (OTC): October 12 – 16, 2024.

2nd Season Bear (OTC): October 26 – November 3, 2024.

3rd Season Bear (OTC): November 9 – 15, 2024.

4th Season Bear (OTC): November 20 – 24, 2024.

Does Reverse 7 L Outfitters guide on public land?

No, we only guide bear hunts on private land in game management units listed above.

What is the minimum poundage for bows in Colorado?

The minimum poundage for bows in Colorado is 35 pounds.

Does Colorado have a minimum let-off on compound bows?

The let-off percentage shall not exceed 80%.

Can I use expandable broadheads?

Yes, Colorado allows the use of expandable broadheads for hunting. Broadheads, both expandable and fixed blade broadhead must have a minimum cutting diameter of 7/8 inch and 2 sharpened edges.

What is the minimum caliber for elk in Colorado?

Centerfire rifles must be a minimum of .24 caliber (6mm). We recommend that you shoot a legal rifle you are the most comfortable and accurate with.

What is Colorado’s minimum barrel length?

Your hunting rifle’s barrel may be no shorter than 16 inches and your rifle 26 inches in overall length.

What is the maximum rounds allowed in the magazine?

Colorado allows for semi automatics to hold a maximum of six rounds. One in the chamber + a 5 round magazine.

Do I tip my hunting guide?

Yes. Our guides work hard to provide you with an exceptional hunt. 20% is standard. If for any reason you are not satisfied, please do not hesitate to bring a matter to our attention so that we can correct any issues you may have. Tipping our cooks is also appreciated and recommended.

Do I need to draw a bear tag to hunt with you?

No. All units that Reverse 7 L Outfitters guides you can purchase bear tags over-the-counter. Add-on bear tags can be purchased with your archery or muzzleloader elk or deer tags.

How many guides hunt with me?

Hunts are 2 x 1. This means you will have 2 hunters per 1 hunting guide. While hunts are based on 2×1, 1×1 guided hunts are available for an additional cost (based on 5-day hunt).

What is the typical weather during hunting season?

Check the respect season your will be hunting big game for the best weather forecast. Archery and muzzleloader generally will have most of the same weather with rifle seasons typically much colder.

Do I need to get acclimated to the elevation?

Yes, we highly suggest you get here at least a day or two before your hunt to get acclimated to the elevation. This mainly applies to hunters coming from eastern states or who live at lower elevations.

What happens if I wound a black bear?

If you draw blood on any black bear and do not recover it, you will still be charged the bear kill fee.

Does Reverse 7 L have trophy fees?

No. Harvest as big a black bear as you would like, we only have a kill fee. Contact for pricing.

What type of terrain should I expect to hunt?

This depends on your physical shape. From low lying river bottoms to steep rocky slopes, we’ve got every type of terrain you could want to elk hunt. Elevations between 6,000 to 8,000 feet you will encounter a lot of oak brush. This is great elk habitat, albeit not the most scenic.

How much is a black bear combo hunt?

Black bear hunts can be added to your existing elk or deer hunt. There is an additional kill fee for black bears of $850 per hunter. This also requires an add-on license or over-the-counter tag for rifle seasons.

What is your deposit and cancelation policy?

All hunts require a 50% deposit at time of booking to reserve a spot. Balance of the total fee due in cash, check, cashier’s check, or money order upon arrival at camp and prior to hunt. Deposits are non-refundable, though may be credited to a future hunt. All rates are per person and subject to change.

What is the best time for bear hunting?

In Colorado we typically see the most bear activity during early archery and muzzleloader seasons. Bears are most active this time of hunting season as they gorge themselves on food all day while preparing for a long winter.
